I've been thinking a lot more about how to share what I know in the world of design, so it's fun to share this stuff in new ways, as a lot of it I've never really talked about before. But today, I've got a few layout tips for ya. I've got some solid examples along the way too, to give you the full run-down. Let's go.
I wanted these tips to all be mega easy and simple, so you could choose one or two and have a play around inside your Squarespace site, or you could combine all 4 and spend a few hours jooshin' up your website. Be sure to click through to the blog post where I have videos for each tip!
I know Squarespace might seem a little intimidating if you’ve never used it before, but its SUPER easy to get dialled, espeically if you’re starting with a Design Kit, which gives you a lot of the pages all pre-laid out. I wanted to make this video to show you how you might start to customise your website and make it yours.
I started using XD a couple months ago when I saw other designers talk about it, so I thought I’d download it and give it a whirl. And since then I’ve been using it a bit more in my own business — for my own shit, and for client projects, and its been so awesome that I’m now gonna test out creating my templates on it (instead of Canva).
Today I thought I would share something with you I've been thinking about for a lil' while — the back end of my Squarespace websites! I figured I'd record a lil video showing you some of the basics of how my 3 websites are set up (including the code I use, or the lack thereof 😜) at the moment within Squarespace…
So I’m designing a new client website at the moment and as part of the process I’ve been helping them get clear on some specific things on the home page, such as what the viewers next steps should be. I’ve also been creeping around a couple other websites for ideas, and I noticed something that started to annoy me a bit…
Comin in hot with some quick design tips for you today! I know that sometimes it can be hard to know how to switch up your designs and make 'em less... boring and basic, esp when it comes to Squarespace, right? Here's the first thing I wanna remind you of : Literally EVERY SINGLE TIME you hit…
In the past I used to not worry a whole lot about having final content before I started designing, but that didn’t last very long because it meant so much time was wasted re-doing sections and content because what I’d used as a placeholder was totally different to the actual content… 🤦♀️
This post is short and sweet but I really wanted to share because I wish it existed, cause it would have saved me friggen hours of frustration inside ConvertKit, LOL. I'll show you my super easy 10 minute process to create an email template in ConvertKit that actually looks half decent.
In my opinion, Squarespace and Showit are the main two players when it comes to creating websites these days (and also Shopify, for fully-fledged online stores). Wordpress is an option, but I dont think its as great as it used to be with these other much easier options on the table.
I've had this idea for a while to create some quick and easy screen share videos of me designing various things, and I just made my first one for you! I took a piece of design inspo and showed you how I might work it into a Squarespace website. So in this video I walk through a realatively easy process…
It's been a while since I've done one of these emails in the What Makes Good Design series, and I've found four rad pieces lately that I thought I'd share with ya. If you're new here, What Makes Good Design is a series where I grab pieces of sweet design I've found around the interwebs and dish a little more on what…
So the other week I was having a convo in my Instagram DM’s with someone about all kinds of things that we have to suss out as a part of the creative process, and the topic of the value of creativity came up. I think it’s an important one, because sometimes as Creatives we feel like we need to justify our value, or justify our prices…
So from my experience working with Squarespace websites, both for my own biz and creating them for my clients, there’s TWO things that give you the ability to take it from a so-so, decent-enough website, to a fuck-yes online home that feels like YOU, and feels even just a little different from everything else out there...
So the other day I posted on Instagram as I was trying to find new fonts on Canva for my new Canva Course Creator template bundle, and I forgot just HOW SHIT the font selection is in there, even when you're on the paid plan. So I shared this post to elaborate some more...
So I was watching this video last night (mostly about designers offering free resources, and how it affects the industry) and it got me thinking about how the world of easy-access design templates can backfire a little if you start to abuse them, or you just don’t evolve your own process of HOW you use them.
Squarespace 7.1 is en-route! This new version is still in testing, so its hard to know what the launched one will look like, but I know this is a platform SO many of us are using these days and I wanted to share the d-low on what I've found so far.
Here's the deal :: when I started Good as Gold Studio, the whole idea behind it was that good design can be accessible and doesn't need to be a luxury. Part of the bigger picture for Good as Gold is talking a lot more about what makes 'good' design and why things…
Your work isn't justified by the amount of 'struggle' you had to go through to create it. I've heard other creatives talk about this over the years, but it's something I've been thinking about more lately. Of course this isn't black and white and there's layers to it... But, I reckon it's SUPER important, so I wanted to dish a little…

The other day I posted on my Instagram about creative copyright, and I'll write/share some more on that soon, but someone replied with a specific Q that I thought could be a whole email/topic on its own because it's pretty important, I reckon...
We all know how key testimonials are to business, yeah? Well, in my opinion, I reckon most people go about getting them in the wrong way. (I'm guilty of this in the past too). We just ask for a straight up testimonial, instead of asking for feedback.
After a long-ass time using Squarespace, I thought I'd wrangle together some of my number one things to avoid if you're new to the platform and are still sussing out how it all works. So I pulled together 5 of 'em for you! I've also tried to make these actually specific to Squarespace…
