You Do You Pricing

One of my main missions for Good as Gold is for solid design resources to be available and accessible to more people, no matter where you’re at with your own financial sitch. For this reason, I’m stoked to be able to introduce my own version of sliding scale/pay what you can pricing. Never heard of it and wondering WTF the deal is?

Here’s how it works —

You choose what you pay (from 3 options), based on what you can afford + where you’re at right now. Below is a break down on the pricing options, and some reasons you might choose one over the other.

(Keeping in mind these examples below will never be a complete rundown of every scenario or possible example. There’s no right or wrong choice here… Which is also why I called it ‘You Do You Pricing’)

👉 Some reasons you might choose Option One (i.e. the lowest price) ::

• you have large amounts of debt

• you stress about paying rent, buying food, and making ends meet

• you do not have access to basic healthcare

• you are financially supporting other people in your family/community

• you are currently unemployed

• you have access to less opportunities, because of racism, systemic oppression, etc

• you feel financially unstable

👉 Some reasons you might choose Option Two (i.e. the middle price) ::

• you have some debt, but it doesn’t hugely affect your ability to meet your needs

• you are employed

• you may have access to some savings or investments

• you have access to healthcare

• you’re able to travel and take vacations, when they are planned out and budgeted

👉 Some reasons you might choose Option Three (i.e. the highest price — also the ACTUAL price of the product) ::

• you do not have crippling amounts of debt

• you can easily meet all of your needs (such as food, rent, transportation, etc)

• you have access to stable financial resources/help (savings, family, inheritance, investments, etc)

• you are able to easily travel + take vacations as you wish

• you have access to full healthcare

• you are employed

• you have disposable income

• you feel financially stable

This system is built on trust, and integrity.
